I wrote a bog titled, "Attention League City Residents
FREEZE ALERT" :

But you just can't save everybody.  In my neighborhood, there were many sprinkler fatalities.  Some people have to find out and learn their lessons the hard way.  And it isn't fun.

It isn't obvious for people that have never lived down south that you should have to wrap your pipes.  Homes in the north are built for the cold.  Why worry??

Well, when a 15 foot geyser streams from your home, you will understand why.  Not all pipes here are not buried underground.  Sprinkler systems, pool equipment, etc always have components above ground here.  And water entering the home is usually exposed and needs to be wrapped.  Older homes have exposed pipes in the attic above the insulation.

So, I sent out an email to my neighborhood directory for residents registered at www.MyWestoverPark.com -- I posted it on the site, and I blogged it to try and get the word out to all of League City and surrounding areas.

I know plumbers, landscapers (for sprinkler systems) and insurance companies have been busy.  We haven't had a deep freeze like that in many years.

I am very excited about one thing: the summer should find fewer mosquitoes!
